Archaeology

Pastmap – one of the first stops for researching archaeology in Scotland is this interactive map regulated by Historic Environment Scotland. It will show every archaeological site, scheduled monument, listed building, battlefield site and landscaped garden within your chosen area. And it links directly in Canmore – an online database which contains every entry from the National Record of the Historic Environment

Seeing as the website’s called Bothy Tales, then for those who were expecting help in that area, please find the all-important link for the Mountain Bothies Association!

Every council in Scotland keeps a Historic Environment Record for their region. You can contact them if you have any queries, want access to information or even report a new discovery. Many of them also have information online that you can have a look through.
